NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION OF ACCOMMODATION
› Application form fully completed
› Photocopy of the PAUU (only applicable for new students arriving at the University)
› Certificate of home address
› Proof of down payment of first deposit of 200 euros (in which case they will duly be discounted from the final deposit of 2 months advanced payment)
Criteria used for selection of students and assignment of the apartments
The assignment and selection of the apartments is carried out using a scale which will bear in mind the following criteria detailed in the application form:
1. Academic: For those students who are new-comers, notes gained in PAUU will be considered and for those who are already Vilanova University students, the notes achieved in the previous course will be considered.
2. Geographic: Those students whose family home is not located in Vilanova i la Geltrú will be considered more favourably.
3. Those students who are from the previous course at the UPC.
Once the scale is considered, the University apartments will be assigned according to the outcome of the scale.
In the moment that the application form is filled out, the students must indicate preference of apartment to live in. There is no need to mark all the apartment types. The student must only mark those apartments which interest him/her. However, if more options are given, there are more possibilities that the student may be selected for an apartment.
Also, the student must specify if they wish to share the apartment, and identify the colleagues with whom they wish to share. Due to the scale used for the selection and distribution of the apartments, not all the demands will be satisfied. However, the residency will always strive to accommodate those students who wish to share in the same apartment.
The admissions list will be published in August. Once published, the contract for the accommodation may be formalised.
Signing of contract
In the event of being admitted, the student may present him/herself at the residency in order to formalise the contract. The 1st September is the official starting date of the contract and the date as from which the student may take up their accommodation in the residency.
The necessary documents in order to draw up the contract are as follows:
1. Photocopy of ID or Passport
2. Proof of payment of the rest of the deposit (one down payment was made with the reservation of the accommodation)
3. Bank account details in order to set up a standing order for the payment of the rent, utilities and others.
4. Photocopy of enrolment in the University (if not available it should be handed in as soon as possible)
For those students who are already residents and who wish to continue in the residency during the next course, the two month deposit paid previously will be held as down payment.
The length of validity of the rental contract will be 10 months, being the same as the academic course, as from the 1st September through to the 30th June of the following year. Cancellation
If for some reason the reservation must be cancelled, please communicate this change to us 1 month ago. Please do not forget that other colleagues are on the waiting list for accommodation and it is essential that we find out as soon as possible.
If the cancellation is for an academic reason, we would request you to bring a certifying document to that respect. In 1 month we will proceed to return the prepaid deposit.
Waiting List
The residency will draw up a waiting list of all those students who applied for accommodation and were not admitted into the primary listing. When a place becomes available, the residency will begin calling those students who are on the waiting list. For this reason we do require a telephone number in order to be able to contact you during the month of August.
Refund of deposits
When the application form is presented, the student must attach the required documents and proof of the down payment of 200 euros.
This deposit will be returned in the event of not being granted accommodation in the residency.
The residency will return this money in the second fortnight in September, via banker's transfer.
Should the room not be occupied one month before the agreed date, the entire diposit shall be lost.
